McCann Named MML Player of the Month

BC Hockey announced that Corey McCann of the Okanagan Rockets has been named the Major Midget League (MML) Player of the Month for December 2018.
McCann, a 17-year-old defenceman from Kelowna, BC, is an alternate captain with the Rockets and is currently Okanagan’s leading scorer among defenceman with 21 points in 26 games. In December, he had seven (7) points (1 goal, 6 assists) in six (6) games. He is currently affiliated with the Trail Smoke Eaters of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL).
McCann volunteers his time with the Rockets for Reading Program and he has raised over $1,400 in funds for male health awareness, making him the top fundraiser on his team.
McCann was chosen from a high-calibre list of other nominees, including:

The MML was established in 2004 to provide elite level 15, 16 and 17-year-olds an opportunity to play within their own age group at a high level and be developed for the next level of hockey. These teams have an opportunity each year to compete for the TELUS Cup, Canada’s National Midget Championship.
