BC Hockey officially announced this past week what many felt was a foregone conclusion: Eric Blais will return as Head Coach of the Okanagan Rockets. The 2017-18 season will mark Blais’ second behind the Rockets bench. In his first season, Blais lead the Rockets to a record of 27-10-0-3 (3rd place in the regular season). In the post-season the Rockets were beat by the Vancouver North West Giants in the first round of the 2016-17 playoffs.
“I am very excited to return to the helm of Head Coach for the Rockets,” stated Blais. “Last year was a lot of fun and very much a learning experience. I am looking forward to the coming season, and working with Patrick and continuing to grow the program.”
Patrick Bobyn, who earlier this month was named the Okanagan Rockets General Manager, also expressed his excitement of working with Blais:
“Eric did a phenomenal job in his first season as Head Coach. Having four players move to junior during the season drastically changed the make-up of the Rockets roster, but Eric was able to field a competitive team and get the most from his players. Moving forward I am very excited for the direction that Eric and I hope to take the Okanagan Rockets program.”
Bobyn and Blais have already begun preparing for the upcoming season, which starts with the Okanagan Rockets Midget Elite Prep Camp during the week of May 22-26. There are still some spots available and for information and registration, contact Blais (email@example.com) or Bobyn (firstname.lastname@example.org).
The week after the Prep Camp the Rockets will hold their Spring Identification Camp from June 1-4. Registration for the Identification Camp can be made through the BC Hockey website: https://www.bchockey.net/ApplicationForms/MMLIDCampRegistration.aspx
Both camps will be held at the Capital News Centre.
