Gatenby Joins OK Rockets For Remainder Of 2015/16 Season

January 9, 2016

The Okanagan Rockets are proud to announce that 17 year-old defensemen Danny Gatenby will join the team for the remainder of the 2015/16 season after being reassigned by the Kelowna Rockets.

Gatenby, who spent the 2014/15 season with the Okanagan Rockets, made the jump to Major Junior this year, where he appeared in 22 games with Kelowna, earning one assist and a plus-1 rating. The Kelowna native played in all 40 games in the BCMML last year with the Rockets, posting one goal and nine assists for 10 points.

"With Danny we felt that for his development it was best for him to get into as many crucial games and important minutes as possible down the stretch." commmented Kelowna Rockets GM Bruce Hamilton, "He should benefit greatly from the next 4 months with the Okanagan Rockets. We expect to see him back in our lineup soon. “

Danny should bring stability and experience to the Rockets back-end according to GM Braeden Pistawka "we're obviously very excited to bring a defensemen of Danny's pedigree back into our program. With his experience at both our level and Major Junior we expect him to be a leader on and off the ice for us."

Gatenby will remain on as an affiliate player with Kelowna this year and will join the team when the BCMML season has concluded.
