Rockets Shutout By OHA Red

January 8, 2016

The Okanagan Rockets had their perfect record snapped at KIMMT on Thursday as OHA Red dominated from start to finish in a 4-0 victory.

James de Vos opened the scoring for OHA on a partial breakaway beating Rockets goaltender Cole Demers blocker side to give OHA a 1-0 lead 6:54 into the game.

The Rockets came close to tying the game on a laser of a wrist shot by Myles Mattila but it somehow stayed out and hit both posts. Moments after that, Reid Wheeldon tipped in a shot from Nathan Iannone that gave OHA a 2-0 lead at the 14:07 mark of the 2nd period.

Just 42 seconds after that, another deflected shot got past the Rockets netminder by Ryan Keilty off a shot from Michal Pupak that extended the OHA lead to 3-0.

OHA would add an empty netter by Quinn Schneidmiller while shorthanded to cap things off in a 4-0 win and move to 2-1-0-0 in KIMMT while the Rockets dropped to 1-1-1-0.

Cole Demers was in net for the Rockets, making 35 saves on 38 shots while Shane Farkas tended the net for OHA and was a perfect 21 for 21.

The Rockets have Friday off and will be scoreboard watching ahead of a big matchup on Saturday morning at 9:00 AM when they take on the Moose Jaw Generals at the Rutland Arena-West.
