Rockets' New Voice Comes From Seasoned Vet

July 16, 2016

Evan Cooke may be new to the Okanagan having recently moved to Kelowna for a job opportunity with AM 1150, however, he is no stranger to the broadcasting field. Cooke has spent the last 5 seasons on the 'mic' with teams in the AJHL, OJHL and ACAC. Most recently he was with the Keyano Huskies, and previously the Fort McMurray Oil Barons and Trenton Golden Hawks. Cooke has worked with several broadcast teams at both the Western Canada Cup and the Central Canada Cup All-Star Challenge, now he looks forward to the opportunity with the Rockets.

“I'm extremely excited for this opportunity, and can't wait for the season to get started” said Cooke. "The Okanagan Rockets organization is one that's committed to excellence, and I'm looking forward to working with Braeden, Eric, and the rest of the team.”

Rockets general manager Braeden Pistawka feels fortunate to have found someone with Cooke’s experience and knowledge “After having Trevor promoted to the BCHL, I wasn’t completely certain we would be able to fill his void with someone of his caliber and dedication” said Pistawka “I’m confident Evan will continue to grow our broadcasting and media relations and become an integral part of our program”.

As always, all games can be viewed on playfullscreen.com. Tune in Sept 24th and 25th for the Rockets first home games of the 2016-17 season.
