The Okanagan Rockets are proud to announce that defensemen Powell Connor has committed to the Chilliwack Chiefs of the BCHL for the 2016/17 season.
Connor, 16, spent the 2015/16 season with the Rockets and had a breakout rookie campaign as a 15 year-old, elevating his play each and every game to become one of the Rockets most reliable defensemen by season’s end. Powell amassed three goals to go along with eight assists for 11 points and 80 penalty minutes over his 38 game BCMML season after making the move to the Rockets last season from the Pursuit of Excellence academy.
“I’m really excited to be part of such an amazing organization,” Connor told the Chiefs website, “I can’t wait to see what my future holds as a Chief.”
“We’re excited to add Powell to our team,” expressed Chiefs General Manager and Head Coach Jason Tatarnic, “He’s an excellent young player and we look forward to seeing him develop with us.”
“Powell's work ethic during the year allowed him to develop his game to progress to the next year,” commented Rockets GM Braeden Pistawka, “He has physical maturity and strength at his age that will allow him to succeed in a reputable organization.”
Connor will be joining another Rocket alumni in the likes of Linden Hora, who is entering his 3rd BCHL season.
The Rockets want to congratulate Powell on the commitment and wish him the best of luck with the Chiefs in Chilliwack next season!
