The Okanagan Rockets (12-7-1) set sail for Vancouver Island this weekend, heading to Nanaimo to take on the North Island Silvertips (2-15-3).
Last Weekend: The Rockets headed north for a two game set against the Cariboo Cougars, a series in which they split with the Cats’. Okanagan suffered a 2-1 loss on Saturday but rebounded nicely for a resounding 6-1 victory on Sunday morning. The Silvertips, on the other hand, spent the weekend in Langley against the Valley West Hawks where they were swept by 4-1 and 2-1 scores.
When We Saw You Last: The Rockets and ‘Tips have met up once thus far this season, and it ended in a swept for the home side Rockets. OK earned a 4-2 win in the first game of the series and finished with a huge 9-0 win in the weekend finale at the Capital News Centre.
Toppling The ‘Tips: The Rockets currently hold a 15-game winning streak versus their opponent from the North Island. Okanagan has outscored the Silvertips 79-33 in that thirteen game stretch.
Halfway Home: We’re officially at the halfway point of the BCMML season with each team having played 20 games in the 40 game regular season. Through those 20 games, the Rockets sit with 25 points (3rd place in the MML), 81 goals for (3rd) and 46 goals against (2nd).
November Magic: The month of November proved to be a good one for a couple of Rockets’ forwards. Matt Kowalski, who leads the team with 36 points, earned a point in every game the Rockets played in November to go along with a 6 game point streak (6-7-13). Alec Zawatsky has also been red hot and is the owner of a 5 game point streak (4-3-7).
Historically Speaking: The Rockets hold an outstanding 28-6-4 record versus the Silvertips since the 2006/07 season. Okanagan also has an equally strong 12-3-3 record on the road vs. the ‘Tips in that time.
