Okanagan Rocket alumni is making news today as Hockey Canada announced the invitees for the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge with former Rocket and current Kamloops Blazer defensemen Nolan Kneen on that list.
Kneen, 16, spent last season with the Rockets, collecting four goals and ten points in 32 games and was an often looked upon source for the Rockets all season long. The 3rd overall selection in the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft then impressed the staff of the Kamloops Blazers to keep him as a full time defensemen this season. The 16 year-old has played in 5 WHL games this season, amassing a goal and an assist to go along with 7 penalty minutes.
Kneen will join other Rockets alumni such as Tyson Jost, Jake Kryski and Justin Hickman to represent Canada at the World U17 Challenge. The tournament gets underway on November 1st and runs to the 7th with games being played in both Fort St. John and Dawson Creek. The gold medal game will take place on Saturday, November 7th from the Encana Events Centre in Dawson Creek at 6:30 pm PST.
