The Okanagan Rockets struggled to find any scoring Sunday afternoon, falling 2-0 in the final game of a two-game weekend series against the Vancouver North West Giants.
The Rockets gave up the opening goal of the hockey game, a Justin Wilson marker at the 3:24 mark of the 1st period. Just as a penalty to the Giants Clint Colebourn had expired, Josh Latta sent Wilson on a partial break, where he picked the blocker side corner for his 4th of the season and the only goal of the opening 20 minutes.
The 2nd period was about the same as the first, with no goals being registered by either side in the frame. Cole Demers was excellent (as usual), making 17 saves in the middle stanza. North West Giants goaltender Beck Warm was solid was well, turning aside all 11 shots he saw in the 2nd frame.
The Giants would put the finishing touches on the scoring at the 2:24 mark of the 3rd period as Lucas Barker received a centering pass from behind the goal by Jackson Sheppard and buried over the glove side shoulder of Demers for his 4th goal of the season.
Beck Warm would make 15 third period saves and 33 total saves on the afternoon to earn the shutout victory in his 1st BCMML start this season. Cole Demers was equally as strong, making 36 saves on 38 shots.
The Rockets are on the road next weekend, heading to Victoria to take on the South Island Royals for a pair of games. Start times on the island are set for 4:30 pm on the Saturday and 10:00 am on the Sunday. The Rockets return home to the Capital News Centre on October 17th & 18th against the North Island Silvertips.
