The Okanagan Rockets announced Thursday night that first-year defensemen Shawn Guison will represent the team as Captain for the 2015/16 season.
Guison, 17, is playing in his first season with the Rockets but has already proven that he has all the intangibles to become a strong leader of the hockey club. Part of those intangibles is a proven winner, and Shawn knows quite a bit about that. Guison was part of two Midget Tier 1 provincial championships with Kelowna Minor Hockey, and served an as assistant captain on last year’s squad. “Shawn is not only a mature young man who is well respected by our group, but he knows what it takes to win,” commented Rockets GM Braeden Pistawka, “He has been a part of two provincial championship teams and understands the buy-in it must take from all of our players to succeed.”

The Rockets also announced that 2nd year forward Zach Erhardt will be joining Guison as part of the leadership group as he will serve as assistant captain for the 2015/16 season.
Erhardt, 17, is in his 2nd season with the Rockets and was a teammate of Guison’s two seasons ago with the Midget Tier 1 team from Kelowna, the same one that won a provincial championship that season. Zach is coming off of a very strong rookie campaign with the Rockets last season, scoring five times and adding 25 assists for 30 points while playing in all 40 games of the Rockets regular season.
