Perhaps Rockets general manager David Michaud summed it up best when he accepted the Bryan Couling Memorial Award as the City's top athletic team for the city of Kelowna in 2014. "It's somewhat fitting that we accept another award for this club, I can say as a staff, it's a year wish never would have come to an end."
The City of Kelowna hosted their annual Civic and Community awards on Thursday evening at the Kelowna Community Theatre, and the Rockets were among the many well deserving recipients on the evening with awards ranging from Man and Woman of the year, male and female athletes of the year as well as awards recognizing youth, the arts, and the corporate community.
"It was such an honour to be included amongst all those tremendous people and organizations doing so much good in the community of Kelowna" said Michaud. "On a night like Thursday, there are no losers, but for our group to receive the Bryan Couling Memorial Award is something very special."
The success of the 2013-2014 Okanagan Rockets is well documented, and adding the Civic award is one final feather in the club's cap.
From the entire Okanagan Rockets organization, thank you to the organizers, sponsors, and of course all the award nominees. Kelowna is a better place for all of us to call because of your efforts!
