The Okanagan Rockets are proud to announce that a pair 1998 born players have committed to play for the BCHL's Salmon Arm Silverbacks for the 2015-2016 season.
Recently named club MVP Marcus Mitchell posted a team leading 22 goals and finished with 46 points in 39 games for the Rockets, while DeMelo saw his 2014-2015 season come to a very early end after sustaining a season ending injury after just a single game played.
"We are thrilled for Marcus, but especially Sammy" said Rockets general manager David Michaud. "Marcus had a tremendous season for us and was well deserving of our MVP Award, but after watching what Sam DeMelo went through this season, it was nice to see Salmon Arm step up and offer him a spot. Sam worked very hard during the season, even though he knew it wouldn't get him back into our line-up."
Mitchell and DeMelo will join a trio of Rockets alumni as Branden Wagner, Colton Thibault, and Josh Blanchard all call Salmon Arm home. Silverbacks coaches Brandon West, and Misko Antisin are also Rockets alumni.
The Rockets continue to be a premiere developer of talent for junior hockey. Since 2010, nearly 70% of all Rockets have moved to play either Junior A, or Major Junior.
The Rockets will be hosting a Spring ID Camp for the 2015-2016 season at the Capital News Centre from May 8th-10th. Up to 12 commitments will be made out of the camp. Register at www.okanaganrockets.com today.
