Growing up on the outskirts of Moscow Russia, twin brothers Pavel and Evgeni Korotkin never imagined that their hockey journey would take them all the way to the beautiful Okanagan Valley.
The Rockets are proud to announce that the twin brothers will in fact suit up for the Rockets next season, and are expected to be a dynamic duo for the club.
The 17 year old brothers suited up for MHC Spartak of the Russian Jr league last season where they finished 1st and 2nd in league scoring. Evgeni led the league with 59 goals and 71 assists in 50 games, while Pavel finished with 27 goals and a whopping 98 assists in 47 games.
The identical twins are listed at 6'3" and 210 pounds and are expected to arrive in Kelowna for the May Spring ID camp.
"We worked tirelessly to bring these two talented individuals to Kelowna for their 17 year old season." said general manager David Michaud. "I've already spoke to numerous junior teams to get them a spot for their 18 year old season, needless to say the interest is really high. In all likelihood, the brothers could have played professionally in Russia this year, but they really wanted to come to North America to gain exposure. We are thrilled that they chose the Okanagan Valley to make their change.
The Korotkin's father, is famed Russian billionaire and oil tycoon Viktor Korotkin. "After speaking with Viktor, he realized that the BCMML and specifically the Rockets would be a great transition for his son's to make their mark in North America."
