The Okanagan Rockets earned a steady 4-2 win over the first place Cariboo Cougars at the Capital News Centre on Saturday afternoon.
The Rockets got a quick start and built up a 3-0 lead before finishing off the Cougars in the 3rd period.
The Rockets goals came from Sam Binfet (17th), Mark Krabben (5th), Brett Witala (14th), and Calvin Rout (4th) added the insurance marker with 4:40 to go in the 3rd.
Jordan Reynolds had one of his top performances of the season as he made 35 saves against the BCMML's most potent offence. The win improved his record to 12-6-2 on the season.
The Rockets were 1 for 4 with the man-advantage, and the penalty killers turned away the Cougars in 5 of the 6 man-advantages they had.
With the win, the Rockets improved their record to 23-12-4, while the Cougars dropped to 29-8-2.
The clubs will conclude the regulars season tomorrow at 10:00 am.
Statistically, neither the Cougars or Rockets have much at stake. The Cougars already know they will have home ice-advantage throughout the playoffs and will open next weekend against the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds. The Rockets have clinched 4th, and will likely host the Valley West Hawks in the opening round.
