Ben Dietrich-Scammell had a break out game with 2 goals and an assist in a 6-2 win for the Rockets on Saturday evening at the Capital News Centre.
The Silvertips were undermanned and out-gunned on Saturday as the Rockets improved to 3-0-0 versus North Island this season.
Missing their top two players in Owen Hardy and Brett Stapley, the Silvertips dropped their 15th in a row to the Rockets. North Island's last win against the Rockets came all the way back on January 9th, 2011.
After Matt O'Dwyer opened the scoring for North Island, the Rockets responded with a power play goal off the stick of Brandon Whistle, his 6th of the season to close out the opening period at a goal apiece.
The Rockets came out firing in the 2nd period as they notched a pair of goals just 20 seconds apart at 1:02 and 1:22 of the period.
Kaden Black (2nd) celebrated his goal by pointing skyward after putting the Rockets in front 2-1. Black lost his Grandfather Larry Black earlier in the week. Black was instrumental in helping the Vernon Vipers to a pair of national championships and was most recently the assistant general manager of the Salmon Arm Silverbacks.
After Black put the Rockets in front, Ben Dietrich-Scammell notched his first career multi-goal game. Dietrich-Scammell scored at 1:02 and 16:40 of the period have the Rockets up 4-2 through 40.
In the 3rd period the Rockets put the game away as Brett Witala scored his 10th of the season and Lucas Cullen notched his 4th of season and his first since returning from injury.
Jordan Reynolds picked up his 10th win in goal for the Rockets as he turned aside 29 shots.
The win improved the Rockets overall record to 15-5-1 on the season while North Island dropped to 3-14-4.
The two clubs will do it again tomorrow morning at 10:00 am to close out the seasonal series.
