Eight is Great: Rockets Return to the Mac's Once Again

November 10, 2014

For the 8th consecutive Christmas, the Okanagan Rockets are bound for the prestigious Mac's Midget AAA Tournament in Calgary.

The 2013 tournament was undoubtedly the most successful Mac's in the Rockets history as they earned their first ever playoff birth, and pushed their run all the way to the semi-finals on New Year's Eve before bowing out to the eventual champions, the Finnish national team.

"The Mac's has become an annual tradition for our hockey club" said general manager David Michaud. "It's a huge priority for our club and it provides tremendous exposure for our players.  Alumni like Josh Ellis and Cortlan Procter don't win a national championship with the Yorkton Terriers last season without the Mac's Tournament."

The Mac's features 25 male and 15 female clubs.  There was a distinct European flavor last season as both the Finnish and Swiss U17 National teams made an appearance.

The Rockets will depart for Calgary on Christmas Day, and typically kick-start the event on Boxing Day.
