The Greater Vancouver Canadians snapped the Okanagan Rockets 7 game winning streak thanks to a 4-2 win on Sunday morning at the Capital News Centre.
The game had the opposite start from Saturday's effort as this time the Canadians jumped out to a 3-0 lead and were forced to hang on from there as the Rockets tried to claw their way back in it.
Brett Witala (4th) and Marcus Mitchell (12th) had the goals in the losing effort for the Rockets on Sunday.
Cole Demers made 28 saves for the Rockets on Sunday, including some big ones in the 3rd period to keep the Rockets in striking distance. Demers drops to 3-2-0 on the year personally with the loss.
Simon Ferguson, the Rockets head coach was keeping things in perspective after the loss. "I thought our start was better Sunday, then it was on Saturday when we jumped out to the lead. That's the way it goes in hockey sometimes. We reminded the guys after the game that it's all a process in building and getting better."
The Rockets drop to 9-3-0 with the loss while the Canadians improved to 6-7-1.
The Valley West Hawks come to the CNC next weekend with games set for Saturday at 3:00 pm and Sunday at 10:00 am.
