The Okanagan Rockets pushed their winning streak to a season high seven straight thanks to a 3-2 victory over the Greater Vancouver Canadians.
While the Rockets will take the win, it was far from pretty.
Leading 3-0 on the strength of goals from Levi Johnson (7th), Connor Bowey (3rd), and Sam Binfet (5th), the Rockets appeared to be home free.
GVC would storm back early in the 2nd period with a pair of goals just 90 seconds apart to pull within a goal a 3-2.
"The effort faded after we got up 3-0" said head coach Simon Ferguson. "We have to clean up our defensive zone, there were just way to many turnovers for us to have success long term. We will take the win tonight, but it has to be better tomorrow, or we won't get away with it."
Jordan Reynolds was great in goal for the Rockets as he made 24 saves to improve his overall record to 6-1-0 on the season. Reynolds has a 2.29 GAA and a .913 save percentage through his first seven starts of the season.
The penalty kill has been big for the Rockets of late, especially at home. Tonight was no exception as they killed off all 5 GVC power play chances. The Rockets have now killed off 35 consecutive power play chances for the opposition. Their power play was 0 for 3.
With the win, the Rockets are now 9-2-0 on the season and will go for an 8th consecutive win tomorrow morning at 10:00.
