The Okanagan Rockets (18-2-4) welcome the North Island Silvertips (6-12-4) from Nanaimo to the Capital News Centre this weekend as BCMML action resumes following the Christmas break.

Despite a disappointing week at the Mac's Tournament in Calgary Alberta, the Rockets can take solace in the fact that they carry a 12 game BCMML unbeaten streak into the weekend. The Rockets have not tasted defeat since a November 4th home ice loss to the Cariboo Cougars.

Tournament Time: The Rockets were a disappointing 2-2-0 at the Mac's, finishing 3rd in Pool 5 play. The Rockets dropped a 3-0 decision to the Carolina Jr. Hurricanes in the opener before rallying the next day to defeat Lethbridge by that same score. The momentum for the Rockets was short-lived however as they would lose a heartbreaking 4-3 game to the Saskatoon Contacts. The Rockets closed out the round robin with a 5-3 win over the UFA Bisons. The North Island Silvertips competed in the Richmond invitational tournament where they finished with a 3-4-0 mark. The Tips were knocked out in the Semi-Finals by MML rivals the Thompson Blazers. Nick Gomerich netted 7 goals and 3 assists in the 7 games for the Silvertips.

Keep it Rolling: The trio of Brett Mennear, Liam Finlay, and Josh Blanchard haver terrorized MML teams all season. The trend continued at the Mac's as they combined for 6 goals and 6 assists in the Rockets 4 games. All 3 players had 4 points in the 4 games.

Nine is Fine: Both Brett Mennear and Josh Blanchard will carry 9 game point streaks into the weekend. In fact, Blanchard has at least a goal in all of those 9 games.  Blanchard has 14 goals and 8 assists, good for 22 points over that stretch. Mennear has posted 6 goals and 15 assists for 21 points. Blanchard is 2nd in MML scoring with 45 points, while Mennear is 7th with 38.

Holding Down the Fort: Reid Kilburn leads all MML goalies with a 1.88 GAA in his 10 appearances. Kilburn is an impressive 9-0-1 during the season.

When We Saw You Last: The Rockets earned a pair of wins over the North Island Silvertips during their visit to Nanaimo in October. The Rockets were 6-3 and 6-4 winners. Josh Blanchard had 3 goals on the weekend to pace the Rockets, while both Brendan Wagner and Dennon Leibel chipped in with a pair. Patrick Bajkov lead the "Tips" with a hat trick in the 2nd game.
