The Western Hockey League's Everett Silvertips announced Wednesday that they have added the Rockets leading scorer Josh Blanchard to their 50-player protected list.

Blanchard leads the BCMML in goals (19) and is 2nd in points (37) in 20 games for the Rockets this year.

The 1996 born (16yrs old) Kelowna native spent the 2011-2012 season with the Tier 1 Midget Rockets where he appeared in a provincial championship.

At 5'6" and 145 pounds, Blanchard doesn't possess the typical body of a WHL prospect, but what he lacks in size is more than made up with speed, heart, and finish.

Everett's general manager Garry Davidson commented that the organization likes Josh's dynamic ability, and the fact that he plays a high tempo offensive game.

Blanchard and the Rockets hit the road this weekend in a tough match-up the Vancouver NE Chiefs and BCMML's leading scorer Matthew Barzal. Games go Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning at Planet Ice in Coquitlam.
